AMPUTATION

This involves the removal of a limb due to medical reasons such as trauma or illnesses. After the surgery is performed, management of the wound is important to ensure that there would be no infection of the wound or tearing of the stitches.

CLOSED REDUCTION OF HIPS

This procedure is a non-operative, or closed, reduction that would correct a hip dislocation without any surgical instruments or incisions. In animals, this would require anaesthesia to ensure of their safety and reduce the amount of pain that they feel when the procedure is performed. Once the procedure is performed, owners are advised to reduce their pets’ activity levels significantly to prevent relaxation of hips.
